7 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Wildlife Safaris

This 4 day Gorilla Trek and Lake Kivu Safari starts and ends in Kigali. It involves visit Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for gorilla trekking. The scenery in the shadow of the volcanoes is one of the most breathtaking in Africa. Later, head to Gisenyi and relax at the shores of Lake Kivu.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Ruhengeri
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
Day 3: Depart to Nyungwe Forest
Day 4: Explore Nyungwe National Park
Day 5: Return to Kigali
Day 6: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Day 7: Game drives and return to Kigali

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Ruhengeri

Meet at you preferred hotel at 10am by your Adventure Trails Guide and there after, proceed to Parc National Des Volcans.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, go gorilla trekking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch! Some gorilla families however are more elusive and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. After lunch, you will be transferred to Gisenyi to relax at the Hotel.

Day 3: Depart to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe National Park. The road is panoramic along the Lake. Have lunch en route in Kibuye, Arrive at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Explore Nyungwe National Park
After an early breakfast, you enter Nyungwe forest for the trekking in search for tracking the chimpanzees. Nyungwe is a vast, uncontaminated mountain rain tropical forest over 1000 sq km in size and you will be amazed by such intense, green mountain vegetation. It is home to 13 species of primates, over 275 species of birds, 100 varieties of orchids. Ensure you carry with you packed lunch and water.

Day 5: Return to Kigali
Have breakfast and drive back to Kigali with en- route stop-over at the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. You may decide to visit the Nyanza Royal Palace. The site displays original items and pieces of history of the Old Mwami who was the King. Proceed to Kigali for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Akagera National Park
You will drive to the east of Rwanda to Akagera National Park after being briefed about your safari. You will have an afternoon canoe ride on Lake Ihema to see the large number of hippo, the huge Nile crocodile and birds.

Day 7: Game drives and return to Kigali
After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the park and you will be able to see a variety of birds and animals such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo, spotted hyena and many more. Later proceed back to Kigali.
